Description: An HTML5 + Javascript application that uses a device’s accelerometer to detect a “free fall” motion and subsequently stop a timer.

Dependencies: Device with an accelerometer and an HTML5 capable web browser (with accelerometer APIs).

Devices: Tested on an iPhone 4 (iOS 4.2.1)

Disclaimer: I am not responsible for any damage to your device. At most your device would need to be dropped from about the height of the iPhone 4 itself. However, I have had successful free falls with much less than that. It would also be wise to do your dropping on a cushioned surface.

Sorry for the lack of gmail-notifier updates! For the past 3 months I’ve been busy with my summer semester, and now I finally have some time to do some recreational programming.

Over the next week or so I’ll be looking deeper into python-indicate and hopefully be able to push out a new version of gmail-notifier.
